Our day commenced with a prompt pick-up at the wharf in Cape Jervis by our knowledgeable driver and guide, Hamish. The itinerary for the day was thoughtfully crafted by the operator, ensuring a seamless flow of planned stops and activities throughout our journey.

Seal Bay

Our inaugural destination on the itinerary was Seal Bay, renowned as the third-largest breeding colony in Australia. Nestled within the confines of Seal Bay Conservation Park, this bay lies a mere 45-minute drive from the main town of Kingscote on Kangaroo Island. There, we embarked on a guided walk, immersing ourselves in the natural habitat of the Australian Sea Lions.

Vivonne Bay Bistro

Our next halt brought us to Vivonne Bay Bistro for a lunch break. While the setting was picturesque, I found the culinary experience lacking. For those considering the one-day tour, I recommend packing a light lunch from the mainland to ensure satisfaction during the journey.

Hanson Bay Wildlife Sanctuary

Our third destination led us to Hanson Bay Wildlife Sanctuary, offering a glimpse into the lives of Koalas in their natural habitat. Situated at the western end of Kangaroo Island, this sanctuary provided the perfect backdrop for our guided Koala walk.

Among the eucalyptus trees, we marvelled at the sight of adorable, cuddly koalas, some accompanied by their joeys. For those seeking a more immersive experience, accommodations are available in the cozy cabins within Hanson Bay Wildlife Sanctuary.

Our fifth stop brought us to the iconic Remarkable Rocks, a striking collection of naturally formed granite boulders sculpted by the elements. Situated within Flinders Chase National Park, these formations are a prominent attraction, showcasing nature’s remarkable artistry. En route, we passed the historic Cape du Couedic Lighthouse, a beacon of maritime history constructed in 1906.

Admirals Arch

Our final destination before returning to the wharf was the enchanting Admirals Arch. The most captivating and personally my favourite spot on Kangaroo Island, Admirals Arch, is a natural marvel. Serving as a sanctuary for fur seals, it boasts a breathtakingly beautiful arch formation sculpted by the forces of nature.
