Top 5 things to do in Sydney

Sydney Opera House

The top of the list is definitely the Sydney Opera House. I would definitely suggest watching an opera show at the Opera House to cross the bucket list item off. And who can forget the famous and romantic scene from Dil Chahta Hai where Aamir realizes his love for Preity.

Are you in Sydney during the winter season? Then read my post things to do in Sydney winters to find all the cool things you can do in this beautiful city.

There is also an audio tour that is conducted in the Opera house which gives an insight into the history and architecture behind this marvel. You can either book the tour online on the official website or on Viator.

Climb the Sydney Harbour Bridge

The second on the list is the climb of the Sydney Harbour Bridge. Watching the spectacular views from above a 134 m bridge is definitely worth the climb. And there are other things that can be done in Circular Quay and The Rocks after the bridge climb.

More details about the Bridge climb can be read on one of my posts – On the day of love.

Bondi to Coogee coastal walk

The third on the list is Bondi to Coogee walk. It is a beautiful coastal walk from the Bondi beach to Coogee beach (one of the 5 one day walks that can be done in Sydney). The views are breath taking and the walk is definitely refreshing. If you are walking the Bondi to Coogee coastal walk during the last week of October and first week of November, then you can see the Sculptures by the Sea, which is an annual festival where artists around the World showcase their art.

Taronga Zoo

The fourth on the list is the Taronga Zoo. Spending one complete day at the Taronga Zoo will definitely not make you feel wasted. It has huge variety of animals and is very informational. And the encounters with the Koala, or feeding a giraffe or kangaroos cannot be missed when in Australia. Also, the views of the harbour from the zoo are breathtaking.

Whale Watching

Note: This activity is seasonal and is only available from end of May to mid of September every year.

The fifth on the list is the Whale watching. This activity happens only for few months in a year, during the whale migration season (end of May to mid of September). Whale migration season is where the humpback whales migrate from south to north and back along the coast of Australia. The cruises start from the King Wharf or the Circular Quay and the experience of watching a whale migrating is just so amazing.

Read Whale watching in Sydney for more details about the whale watching experience.

Safety for solo female travelers

There are no questions about the safety for solo female travelers in Sydney. It is an absolutely safe city and I have never faced any issues or problems as such in the past 8 years. I completely recommend traveling here solo without any inhibitions and doubts. However, I would still take precautions like any other city in the World when I am traveling alone. Avoid lonely places and be cautious while traveling alone at night.

Closing Notes

As I mentioned earlier, Sydney is one place where one cannot get bored even if they stay in the city for months. There is so much to do just in the Sydney Central Business District (CBD), let alone the whole city.
