Photo Diary: Noosa Heads

Noosa Heads is a beautiful town in the Shire of Noosa in the state of Queensland in Australia. The nearest airport from Noosa Heads is Sunshine Coast. Sunshine Coast airport is about 30 minutes (by road) from Noosa Heads.

Noosa Heads is popular tourist attraction for its pristine beaches and wildlife. It has a huge population of koalas and are seen in and around the Noosa National Park.

The main street is the Hastings Street that lies directly behind the seashore. It has plenty of restaurants and cafes.

Tip: The backpacker accommodation – YHA Noosa Heads is one of the best options to stay for budgeted travelers like me, as it is very close to the main street.

On day 1, my friend and I explored the Australia Zoo, which is famous for the well known Australian nature expert and television personality – Steve Irwin.

My friend’s manager had suggested some restaurants at Noosa. We tried one of them which was Locale for dinner. And I must say that I enjoyed every single food item I tried. It was a bliss to the taste buds.

Tip: Don’t miss out on Fiore Di Zucchine, they were heaven – totally.

On day 2, we started the day by hiking in the Noosa National Park.

Tip: Make sure to look up at the branches of the trees, you may spot a koala.

The coastal walk in the Noosa National park is a must do. The walk is along the picturesque and pretty beaches.

For lunch, we had Yum Cha at Gaston Noosa on Hastings Street.

Tip: Definitely try the Corn fritters. They have a twist of chilli caramel and they are delicious.

In the evening, we took the sunset cruise with Whale One cruises. It was two hours cruise on the Noosa river during the sunset. This is a great way to spend the evening.

Tip: Even on hot warm days, make sure you carry a thin jumper as it could get windy and chilly in the evening after the sun sets.

  1. Looks like I missed a lot when I was in Noosa. When I visited we did the boat ride, but didn’t really make it to the beach because my friend broke her foot just days before. Those corn fritters look so delicious!

  2. Wow, beautiful beaches and great food. Loved your photos and enjoyed hearing about your experiences. Especially enjoyed the coffee and food references.
