Now that it’s only few weeks left for my Inca trail adventure, I start to think of all the things I need to carry in my backpack for the Inca trail. It is a 4 days and 3 nights hike and I would not probably have too much to carry in my backpack.
Few things to keep in mind while deciding on the things that need to be carried in the backpack:
- Remember to keep in mind that this backpack is the backpack that you would be carrying throughout the hike, which means that having it light is the best thing you can do for yourself.
- Having said that it is also important to carry the stuff which is absolutely required.
- The things that have to be carried must cater for the weather conditions and you need to be prepared to handle the worse.
So here is the list:
- Passport & a zip lock bag to protect the passport
- Hiking shirts and pants (I would recommend two of each, so if one wears out there is a backup)
- Underwear (one clean ones for each day + an extra pair)
- Thermal top and pant (one pair)
- Socks – It is advisable to wear two pairs of socks each time to avoid blisters on the feet (two clean ones for each day + two extra pairs)
- Poncho/Rain gear
- Light Jacket
- Hiking shoes – Very important and ensure you have used the shoes and are comfortable before going on Inca trail
- Flip-flops
- Few disposable bags
- Sleeping bag – I have hired the sleeping bag and the trekking poles, so I do not need to pack them from here
