Hong Kong and Macau

Hong Kong (HK) is an autonomous territory on the Pearl River Delta of East Asia. Hong Kong, literally means ‘Fragrant Harbour‘ or ‘Incense Harbour‘ in Cantonese. Hong Kong is the world’s most significant financial centers. And Macau or Macao lies across the delta to the West. Macau is a resort city and is known for its beautiful casinos and luxury hotels.


Hong Kong

  • Capital city: Victoria.
  • Main language spoken: Chinese.
    • Basic Greetings: Nihao (Hello), Zoashang Hao (Good Morning).
  • Currency: Hong Kong dollar.
    • Forex Exchange: Currency can be exchanged at any international airports
  • Tourist visa: Visa is required to enter HK and visa on arrival can be obtained for Indian citizens (latest information can be found on HK Immigration website).
  • Best time to visit: October to December.
  • Adapter required (power points): Three pronged UK-style plug.
  • Driving licence: International unexpired valid driving licence is required.

Macau

  • Main language spoken: Chinese.

  • Currency: Macanese pataca.
    • Forex Exchange: Currency can be exchanged at any international airports.
