Situated within the Royal National Park (RNP), numerous hidden and offbeat gems are waiting to be discovered. During our visit to the Helensburg temple, my friends and I serendipitously encountered one such offbeat treasure: the Maddens Falls Lookout. This waterfall stands out as one of the most enchanting I have witnessed in New South Wales (NSW).

About Maddens Falls
Located within the Dharawal National Park, the Madden Waterfalls offers a delightful short bush walk, presenting excellent opportunities for captivating photographs. Dharawal National Park, a protected area in the New South Wales (NSW) state of Australia, is positioned between the Illawarra Range and the Georges River, showcasing a pristine natural environment worth exploring.
Exercise caution when approaching the waterfall’s lookout, and avoid approaching the edge. Your safety is paramount, and maintaining a safe distance is essential to prevent any potential hazards.
Maddens Falls Lookout Trail
A brief 15-minute stroll (approximately 1.1 kilometers) from the car park leads to the waterfalls, making it an ideal location for a leisurely afternoon picnic with friends or family. The journey commences on a fire trail, descending gracefully to the waterfall’s lookout. Enjoy the scenic walk and the perfect setting for a delightful outdoor gathering.
Accessing the bottom of the waterfalls is possible but involves taking an off-track trail. Please be aware that venturing off the designated path may require additional caution and is not part of the standard trail.

The car park for Madden Waterfalls is approximately 60 kilometers away from Sydney, and the journey can be comfortably completed in just 50 minutes by car.
