Guide | Hike Mandaragiri betta (Bangalore)

The Basada or Mandaragiri betta (hill) is about 65 kilometres from Bangalore in Tumkur. It is a famous pilgrim temple for Jainism. The Mandaragiri is a small hill with 434 steps (~ 500 metres one way) to reach the peak.

Supposedly, the peak has four Jain temples, which were closed when I visited. Nevertheless, the views of the lake from the top is spectacular and breathtaking.

At the foothills of the Mandaragiri betta is the Peacock temple. It is a nicely constructed Jain temple which has a look of peacock’s feathers. The temple also hosts a big statue of Mahavir Jain.

This is definitely a must visit getaway from Bangalore. The temples and the views from the hill are very pretty.
