A must-do on any Bali’s bucket list, this excursion is tailor-made for those craving exploration. Participants have the opportunity to delve into the depths of the cave, uncovering its untamed wonders. Equipped with ropes and safety gear, thrill-seekers rappel down approximately 90 meters into the cavern’s depths.

  • For optimal comfort and safety during the activity, it’s advisable to wear sturdy and comfortable footwear.

Upon entering the cave, you’ll find yourself surrounded by captivating scenery. Just 500 meters from the drop-off point, you’ll encounter breathtaking photographic spots where light dances amidst the cave’s enchanting depths.

  • To enhance your exploration experience, it’s recommended to bring along a torch, as the tour agency does not provide them.

Booking and Cost

The cave activity is available exclusively on weekends from 7 AM to 7 PM. For a hassle-free booking, consider using a reputable platform like Viator or consult with local taxi drivers in Yogyakarta, who are well-versed in arranging this adventure. Alternatively, bookings can be made directly at the entrance office of Jomblang Cave.

How to Get to Jomblang Cave?

By Road

The most convenient mode of transportation to reach Jomblang Cave is by car or motorcycle. Situated in the Gunungkidul Regency of the Yogyakarta region, the cave is approximately 50 kilometres from Yogyakarta city. The journey by road typically takes about 1 hour and 20 minutes.

By Public Transport

Regrettably, public transportation to Jomblang Cave is unavailable. The sole means of reaching the cave is driving or arranging a taxi service.

Is Yogyakarta or Jomblang Cave Safe for Solo Female Travellers?

Yogyakarta and Jomblang Cave are generally safe destinations for solo female travellers. Having journeyed to these locations alone, I encountered no significant issues. However, I exercised caution and refrained from venturing alone at night, taking necessary precautions for my safety. As with any destination worldwide, it’s essential to remain aware of your surroundings and exercise vigilance, particularly after sunset.
