Booking and Check-in Process
Booking and checking into The Windflower Resort and Spa proved effortless and efficient. Initially discovered through Agoda, the reservation process was straightforward: a quick search, availability check, personal details input, and payment submission. Upon arrival, I found the staff exceptionally welcoming and accommodating.
Arriving at the resort at 6 AM after an overnight bus journey, well ahead of the standard 1 PM check-in time, I was pleasantly surprised by the staff’s proactive efforts to accommodate my early arrival. Despite the early hours, they ensured I could access my room immediately.
Moreover, I had to provide my details again while checking in at the reception. Despite the slight redundancy, the process was handled smoothly, reflecting the staff’s commitment to guest satisfaction. Their friendly demeanour and willingness to go the extra mile contributed significantly to my positive impression of the resort’s hospitality.
Overall, the seamless booking experience, coupled with the warm and accommodating service from the resort staff, set a positive tone for my stay at The Windflower Resort and Spa. These small yet significant details elevate the guest experience and leave a lasting impression.
Rooms at The Windflower Resort and Spa
The Windflower Resort and Spa offers two distinct types of accommodation, all boasting enchanting forest views.
- Suites are generously sized, featuring spacious interiors and expansive balconies.
- Villas, the category in which I lodged, are luxurious abodes with ample balconies and outdoor covered Jacuzzis, perfect for indulgent relaxation amidst the serene surroundings.
Dining at The Windflower Resort and Spa
The resort features an on-site restaurant serving breakfast and meals. Breakfast and dinner are buffet-style; guests can include them when booking their rooms. While the buffet primarily offers authentic Kerala cuisine, I found the selection limited, and the food often cold. However, I thoroughly enjoyed the à la carte lunch, with each dish I ordered being exceptionally delicious. It’s worth noting that the dining options can be pricey.
Facilities at The Windflower Resort and Spa
Spa and Massage
The spa at this resort offers some of the most exceptional massages I’ve experienced. Dhanya, the masseur, is truly outstanding and remarkably courteous. Impressed by her skill, I indulged in a therapy massage with scrub on my first day, promptly booking a similar session for the next day. If you’re staying here, don’t miss the spa experience.
The spa facilities are pristine, and the massage oils are excellent. With various treatments and massages available, there’s something for everyone’s relaxation needs.
It’s important to note that massage payment is required upfront and cannot be charged to your room. The spa only accepts cash or GPAY payments; if you prefer card payment, you must visit the reception to settle your bill.
Plantation Walk
Each morning at approximately 8 AM, guests are invited to join a plantation walk. The property is situated within a lush forest and boasts diverse trees and plants, including jackfruit, black pepper trees, and numerous flowering plants.
It’s worth noting that the property is home to a large population of monkeys. To avoid any unwelcome encounters, be sure to close the windows and doors of your rooms securely.
Indoor Games
The resort offers a range of indoor games, including classic board games like Ludo, Monopoly, and Scrabble, as well as table tennis and darts. Guests are welcome to enjoy these activities at their leisure; there’s no need to make reservations. Make your way to the indoor games room for some entertaining fun.

What I Loved About the Resort?
- The staff at the resort left a lasting impression with their warmth and hospitality. Their kindness was evident when they accommodated my request for an early check-in, demonstrating a considerate approach to guest satisfaction. The restaurant staff were also attentive and provided excellent service throughout my stay.
- The villa I occupied was simply stunning. It was impeccably clean, and its spacious layout provided ample room for relaxation. I was particularly impressed by the well-designed bathroom, which added to the overall comfort of my stay.
- The resort’s proximity to the forest and surrounding nature enhanced the experience, offering a tranquil ambience that perfectly complemented the luxurious accommodations.
- No account of my enjoyable stay would be complete without mentioning the exceptional body massages I indulged in. Dhanya, the masseur, delivered an outstanding service, enhancing my relaxation and rejuvenation experience.
- Furthermore, the overall ambience and atmosphere of the resort exuded peace and serenity. From the moment I arrived, I was enveloped in a sense of calmness, making it the ideal setting for a tranquil retreat.
- In summary, the friendly staff, luxurious accommodations, natural surroundings, and rejuvenating massages combined to create an unforgettable experience at the resort, leaving me with cherished memories of a peaceful and serene getaway.
What Did I Not Enjoy About the Resort?
- I found the dining experience at the restaurant, particularly the buffet, disappointing. Additionally, the prices of the food were quite high.
- Despite receiving helpful information from the manager upon inquiry, the absence of a dedicated travel desk was a downside. Having a designated desk would have facilitated better planning for excursions.
- The resort’s location, set back from the highway, posed challenges for accessing nearby attractions, especially without personal transportation. Having your vehicle is advisable for more accessible travel to other destinations.
How to Get to The Windflower Resort and Spa?
- By Air – The closest airport to the resort is Calicut International Airport, which is approximately 60 kilometres away. This airport boasts excellent connectivity with cities across India and operates international flights.
- By Bus – For those travelling by bus, the nearest bus stop is in Kalpetta, approximately 10 kilometres from the resort. From the bus stop, plenty of auto-rickshaws are available for hire. Typically, the fare for a one-way ride is around INR 250. However, it’s essential to remain vigilant, as there have been instances of overcharging by auto drivers, with fares sometimes reaching as high as INR 800 for a one-way trip.
Closing Notes
The Windflower Resort and Spa ranks among the finest resorts I’ve experienced. Every aspect of my stay was seamless and enjoyable. I only wish I had more time to explore and partake in the resort’s activities fully.
