About Bondi to Coogee Coastal Walk

The Bondi to Coogee coastal walk is a famous 6 kilometres coastal walk in the suburbs of Sydney. It is ranked as one of the best coastal walks in Sydney.

Another popular walk is the Spit Bridge to Manly coastal walk.

Bondi beach is one of the best beaches of Sydney and it is famous among the surfers. In fact, I had taken a one day surfing course in Sydney. The laid-back coastal café culture attracts the locals and the tourists.

The walk offers six sections of different views and experiences. The official starting point for the Bondi to Coogee walk is the Bondi Beach. It then passes through the below 4 beaches and cemetery:

  • Tamarama beach
  • Bronte beach
  • Clovelly beach
  • Coogee beach
  • A part of the walk is also through Waverley Cemetery where one can see the graves as old as the early 1900s.

Look out for the grave of Henry Lawson at Waverley Cemetery.

The views during the walk are breathtakingly beautiful. The breeze from the ocean and the freshness in the morning air are something to die for.

If you are an early riser, then definitely head to Bondi beach for sunrise. I usually go there for sunsets and that is one of my most favourite things to do in Sydney.

Whale watching

During the whale migratory season i.e. between the months of May and October, humpback whales can be spotted. Even though I have not seen the whales, I have definitely seen the dolphins swim closer to the beach. The cliffs are a great spot to just look out for these amazing marine life.

Is it safe for solo female travelers?

Yes, definitely. This is one of the safest walks in Sydney. I have done this walk alone plenty of times and I have had no issues whatsoever. There are many people walking this coastal walk and hence there is not a single place where you feel lonely or scared.

However, like any other place, be cautious, especially at nights and trust your instinct.

Closing Notes

I would definitely recommend doing this walk when you visit Sydney. It is truly a beautiful relaxed walk along the coast on a lazy warm weekend. The vibes on this walk are so refreshing. I strongly feel that visiting Sydney is incomplete if one does not do the Bondi to Coogee coastal walk.

If you love this walk, then you would also enjoy the other coastal walks such as Manly to Mona Vale via Long Reef, La Perouse to Maroubra, Watsons Bay to Coogee, and Kurnell to Cronulla walks.
